When we called Jean, we honestly thought there was little hope of us being able to keep our wonderful Boxer with all of his issues. She explained what we needed to do in a way that our whole family could understand and we still have Leon to this day! To think we really were going to take him to a shelter…I shutter at the thought.

When we adopted our Poodle/Maltese (AKA Maltipoo) Skittles, she was nervous but also very badly behaved. We took her to Obedience classes and worked with other trainers but she seemed to either get worse or stay the same. Jean walked into our home and immediately saw a way to help us. Although Skittles can have some occasional set back …cough cough, she is a part of our family and we take her everywhere with us.

As a first time dog owner, I gained an incredible amount of knowledge and insight through Jean’s advice and training. She has been a valuable resource, not only with my first Sheltie but also with my second Yorkipoo who was less confident, more fearful dog. Jean treats each dog as an individual taking into consideration their backgrounds and their training needs. Jean has always been able to assess each situation and provide unique recommendations that have worked remarkably well with each dog!

I have known Jean for over 30 years and she is always the first (and only) person I contact when I have a problem with any one of my dogs. She has an amazing way of coming up with a solution that works for that particular dog. Her love for dogs is so obvious in everything she does.

If anyone can help you with dog behavior problems it would be Jean. She learned the hard way by taking on the tough problems that others might walk away from.
She is always willing to share her years of experience to teach you to be a better owner and get the most out of your dog. I know that Ernie and I have a better relationship since Jean then we ever expected.

I have been owned by dogs for almost 60 years and have worked professionally in the dog care industry for the past 20 years.
I met Jean over eight years ago and I was instantly drawn to her because she not only shared my own approach to working with dogs but she has the best eye I have ever encountered! Jean can see the relationship problem and understand it from the dog’s point of view almost instantly.
I would have to say she is probably the most effective teacher in all situations I have ever encountered.

I’ve had dogs for years and done some group semesters with a few dogs, but Jean was the most helpful and effective dog training session I’ve ever experienced! I saw the ad for Fix My Dog in the local newspaper insert and the part about a “1 time” session is what caught my eye and I figured it was worth a shot.
Jean Owen totally delivered on that promise. She came to our home, quickly sized up Lucy’s quirks, had a brief discussion with her and then thoroughly explained her assessment to me and my husband and described very straightforward principles of what to do going forward.
Then we had her come back a month later to spend time with my 82 yr old father in law to get him on the same page and again Jean was bang on in her assessment (of him this time!) and very effective and patient in her direction to him to manage Lucy going forward.
In addition to dogs I have also owned horses for many years and have never seen an animal trainer as perceptive, effective and pleasant as Jean. I can’t believe I’d never heard of her or Fix My Dog before. If all of your trainers are of the same caliber as Jean then EVERY dog owner should know that Fix My Dog is available to help them!

As a school teacher myself, I appreciate that Jean is willing to tailor lessons to the particular needs of an individual and make each learning moment a positive one.
I’ve had the opportunity to work with Jean in the training of my Shiba Inu, Shelby. Like many of her breed, Shelby is a dog with a strong and often stubborn personality yet rather than trying to alter that or forcing her to be something she’s not, Jean created a program that works with my dog’s strengths and helps her use them to her advantage to overcome obstacles. Shelby is not the same dog that she was when we started training! Thank you!
